Serbia has a comprehensive road network but the conditions are generally poor, with surfaces usually covered in potholes and difficult to navigate. Driving at night is certainly not recommended, due to the poor conditions, sometimes unlit roads and aggressive local drivers. Whilst 24-hour petrol stations are becoming all the more common, fuel shortages still occur, so spare fuel should be carried. Bus and coach services cover the whole country and provide cheap and efficient service, if a little uncomfortable. Taxis are available through the whole country, and unmetered journeys should have a price agreed upon before setting off. Belgrade has decent tram and trolleybus services that offer cheap, efficient service. Train travel is slow and carriages can be in poor condition, but the services cover most of the country and are cheaper than buses, generally speaking. There are a number of scenic routes by rail that should be experienced. Internal flights are available between Belgrade and Montenegro.
